The graduation defense was held in building A, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, November 6th, 2021. Xin Jin was supervised by Prof. Shixuan Du, and Yu-Tian Zhang was co-supervised by Prof. Yu-Yang Zhang and Shixuan Du. Yu-Tian have passed the defense for his master’s degree with the presentation titled “Theoretical Studies of the Structures and Properties of Two-dimensional Amorphous Boron Nitride”, and Xin finished his PhD defense with “First-principles studies of several two-dimensional ferroelectric materials and related heterostructures”.
The chairman of the defense committee was Professor Weihai Fang (academician of CAS). The members also include Professor Gang Su (UCAS), Hongming Weng (IOP, CAS), Zhigang Shuai (Tsinghua U.), Jiatao Sun (Beijing Institute of Technology) and Yu-Yang Zhang (UCAS). Xin and Yu-Tian have presented their research fluently with rich details. They have answered the questions carefully as well. By the vote of the committee, they were agreed to passed their defense without objection.
